SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS FOR YOUR HOME
We specialise in the design and creation of custom furniture. We provide a free measure and quote service and all our furniture is hand built to your specifications, using the best timbers, glues and jointing methods. Ensuring your new unique piece of furniture will last a lifetime.
Our motto is ‘Buy Better, Buy Less’ and we stand by this mantra.
Each piece of furniture we produce has the unique characteristics of the hand sourced material and the unique qualities of your specification and design.
“Perfection is not when there is more to add, but no more to take away”Antoine De Saint_Exupery
We have a variety of finishes we use on our furniture to protect and nourish the timber. We use natural oil finishes to ensure the highest quality and durability without harming your environment with nasty toxic finishes.
Buying a piece of solid timber furniture means that it can be sanded and re-finished. So should your interior colour palette change your furniture can change with it. We offer a re-finishing surface in which we can work on-site or bring your piece back to our workshop to sand and re-finished.
District Furniture was formed through a desire to be a sustainable business with environmental concerns at the forefront of all our decisions. ‘Sustainable’, is a pretty ambiguous word in today’s vernacular. Our interpretation of sustainable is;
To make the best product, without causing any harm. Where possible to use locally sourced materials and produce furniture with longevity, which can be repaired and at the end of its life recycled.
Our mantra is ‘Buy Better, Buy Less’ and we firmly encourage our clients to do this. In a world of over-consumption its important we change our buying habits and deeply considering everything we purchase.
“What we take, how and what we make, what we waste, is in fact a question of ethics.”Yvon Chouinard – Founder Patagonia
Our aim is to be an inspirational business through our actions. We love creating but hate the idea of any of our products ending their life in landfill. That is why we strive to produce the best products that will last a lifetime, but at the end of their use-able life they can easily go back into the materials chain and close the loop.
“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
We take your ideas for your dream piece of furniture from sketch all the way through to completion.We can translate your requirements into sketch format for initial feedback. Once the sketch stage has been complete we create 3D CAD models, visuals and drawings of your new custom furniture for your approval.
Once the visuals and drawings have been signed off we then set to work sourcing the finest materials for your custom designed, hand-made furniture. We hand select timber to suit your requirements. Work can then begin in our Cheshire East workshop, lovingly creating your dream piece of furniture.
